Compare and Contrast
“I am the Lorax and I speak for the trees.” These
words written by Dr. Seuss appear in both the book and movie. Although they
bear some superficial similarities the differences between the Lorax book and
movie are remarkably clear.
First of all, the Lorax movie has a more
complex plot than the book. By this I mean, the movie has a boy named Ted who
falls in love with a girl in his town named Audrey. Audrey wants a “real” tree
because everything in the town was fake. Ted goes on an adventure to find a
“real” tree for Audrey.
In the book of the Lorax it seems like a
different story. By this I mean, that in the book there is no boy who falls in
love with a girl and goes on and adventure. In the book the boy the boy goes to
visit the Oncler to learn about truffla trees and about thneeds and how they
destroyed everything. There is nothing about “Oh Hair Air” in the book that was
just added to the movie later on.
The book and movie of the Lorax are different
but they do have similarities. First off, they are both written by the same
author. They both tell the same story of the Oncler and what he did to the
truffla trees. It’s the same lorax. What I mean is that the Lorax is the same
there’s not like a different character playing him in the book or movie. The
movie tells the same story just with more details. Also, in the end it ends
with the same word “unless” which means that if the boy didn’t care about
truffla trees and if he didn’t care nothing would get better.
As you can see, the book and movie are very
different from each other but they do have similarities. Despite their
differences they both are amazing and should be read by everyone. Although they
bear some superficial similarities the differences between the Lorax book and
movie are remarkably clear.
