School Dress Codes
How would you feel if someone controlled
how you looked? Having uniforms would allow this. Uniforms are an absolutely
horrible idea and should not be required at GW.
Uniforms don’t allow kids to make their own
decisions. In other words, children need the opportunity in life to choose
things they like, including clothes. For example, a student who is allowed to
wear what they want will be more confident because they get to choose what they
like instead of being forced to be the same as everyone else. Also, it’s none
of the schools business to control what kids wear.
Having school uniforms requires
organization. Having school uniforms is a bad idea because you need to know
where the uniform is and when to wash it. For example, a student has a limited
number of pieces to their uniform and they need to know where it is so they
don’t lose it and students need to know if it is dirty or not. Also, if you
don’t wash it you will be wearing dirty clothes over and over, and if you lose
your uniform you won’t have your clothes for school anymore.
School uniforms limit self-expression. In
other words, no one is able to show their own style and how unique they are.
For example, if a student like wearing pink then why can they wear it? It’s
their own style and that person is expressing themself. If the school takes
these privileges away then kids won’t be unique.
To conclude uniforms are unnecessary and
forces kids to rebel against authorities. They are also un-expressive and limit
kids creative juices. Uniforms are an absolutely horrible idea and should not
be required at GW.
